I have been on 2 West for a total of 4 days now and Jackie has been my dayshift nurse for 3 of them. Jackie has played an instrumental role in ensuring my visit was one that was pleasurable. Her bedside manner is one that made me feel as if I was her only patient. Jackie was always smiling, cheerful, and compassionate each and every day.
I was admitted for a short surgical procedure however, it turned out to be a little longer than planned. This made me a little uneasy and feeling overwhelmed. Jackie so graciously met me back in my room and took the time to reassure me that all is well and that I was going to be in great hands of the surgical team.
On my mother's 87th birthday my mother came to visit. Jackie was able to sit and speak with my mother, so soft and pleasant, about my plan of care. As you know, mothers will always worry about their children, and Jackie without hesitation eased her worry and assured my mother that her son is in caring hands here at the VA Hospital. And, we are committed to ensuring that I, her son, was receiving the very best quality care during my visit. Jackie's presence with me and my mother alike was amazing and extraordinary. I wish we could replicate her and have a VA full of Jackie's. Thank you, Jackie, for being instrumental in my visit on 2 West.
