Over the 15+ years that I have worked with Jackie Favret I have benfited many times from her natural mentoring - first as a newly graduated masters prepared faculty member. I have also learned from her special approach to leadership - she just gently "takes care of business" whether as a program director, course coordinator or President of Epsilon Nu. I have observed her closely as she interviewed each and every applicant in the articulation programs, which involves an extensive review of transcript and guiding students working toward their goals. Over the years I have tried to identify what it is that she does that is different for others. Finally, I understand. Jackie cares and she cares enough to ask. She asks, "Are you okay?" "How is your husband?" "How is the baby?" Jackie is also the one who comes to the hospital when one needs the support or spends the day with a friend who has had a death in the family. As one can see, Jackie Favret, is worthy of receiving the DAISY Award for the care she gives to students and faculty.
