My brother was brought to the OHICU. Jacqueline was his nurse. Mostly she was our family's nurse. My brother suffered a cardiac arrest that led to anoxic brain injury. He was on the unit for our family to say out goodbyes. I'll never forget the caring and compassion that Jacqueline showed me and my family. She literally kept me from hitting the floor when I first saw my brother lying in the hospital room knowing it was the last time, I would see him. She let us cry and comforted us and provided support during the worst day of our lives. She sat and talked to me outside the room to try and calm me. We talked about me starting as a new ICU nurse in the same facility. She walked with me back to my brother's room when I was finally able to bring myself to go in and see him. She stayed with me, rubbing my back as I sobbed, and brought me water. I hope that I can be even half the nurse she is, and that this nomination makes its way to Jacqueline so she knows that her kindness will never be forgotten. ​
