Jackie's patient was just diagnosed with Leukemia, in critical condition, and quickly declining. The intensivist, hospitalist, and oncologist were all present, trying to decide the best plan of care. The patient was very scared and Jackie never left his side. She collaborated with all 3 physicians and effectively communicated with the patient and his family. She was a great example of how to handle a stressful situation and provide quality care. She was calm and compassionate, supporting the patient's emotional needs. She was even there to console the physician who was in tears. Jackie is an extraordinary nurse and we are very lucky to have her on our team!
