Jacqueline was the angel we needed to get through a rough weekend. She was very attentive, very empathetic, and had outstanding social skills. She did an excellent job making sure my best friend was as comfortable as possible, and she always had an idea when new challenges arose. She was knowledgeable and very competent and was easily the best staff member we interacted with during our time at Sentara. Jacqueline was also very humble and treated my friend as a person, not a patient. When talking to my friend, she would kneel at her bedside which made her feel like she was truly important to Jacqueline. Furthermore, she was very encouraging and supportive, telling my friend she was proud of her when she walked down the hall. When we found out she was our nurse again on day two, there was a wave of hope for us all because we knew she truly cares about us and is doing her best to return my friend to her life at school and home.
My friend has been through a lot and is easily one of the strongest people I know and it's with the care of nurses like Jacqueline that the rest of us get through the rainy days. Thank you, Jacqueline, for being our ray of sunshine in the darkness.
