After 6 chemo treatments, Mom had to have a lumpectomy. Jackie's kindness and care towards Mom were comforting. She was sensitive to her fears and very responsive to our need for information and updates on Mom's care. Her knowledge of the procedure and her gentle care of Mom post op was special to us, as was her fight on Mom's behalf to get a replacement bra for her when she threw up on it. It was a difficult task of which Jackie met with several roadblocks and resistance, yet never giving up before making sure Mom had a clean bra to go home in. She was also very patient in teaching us how to operate the drain in layman terms. Most importantly, Jackie maintained a positive attitude which directly impacted our mom's attitude. Unfortunately, Mom had to return for a second surgery and we were disappointed not to have Jackie as mom's nurse but she was kind enough to acknowledge Mom and let her know she remembered her fondly while expressing compassion and well wishes for her second surgery.
