To have Ms. Jackie step in and comfort him in a motherly way - it was like having an angel step in. It allowed me to go through my moment with peace of mind.
Ms. Jackie has the perfect warm, nurturing, comforting personality that you need especially during these scary times. I remember when I got the news that my son needed unexpected emergency surgery. I was very scared and unhappy. I was mad at everyone and didn't want to accept the reality that the surgery was necessary. Ms. Jackie at the time was my nurse and her calm voice and sweet laughs kept me grounded. When we returned from surgery, my son was in so much pain. My heart sunk I didn't think I could properly take care of him with this scary stoma. I kept my distance from him and I watched as Ms. Jackie held his hand and stepped in when I couldn't as a mom. That meant the world to me. I wanted so badly to be there but emotionally I was crippled. To have Ms. Jackie step in and comfort him in a motherly way - it was like having an angel step in. It allowed me to go through my moment with peace of mind that even if my heart was breaking because I felt I wasn't qualified to care for him, Ms. Jackie took my place and was there to care for him in an area she was more qualified to do. Ms. Jackie did it with such grace and love that it changed the aura in the room. She shared stories that made my son laugh and at that moment I knew how blessed I was to have her as a nurse. When her shift ended my son literally teared up but she reassured him that he would see her again. This is one of what became many awesome experiences I shared with Ms. Jackie and this is why I feel she is a DAISY Nurse.
