Sometimes being a nurse isn't always about taking care of the patients, sometimes it involves taking care of the people taking care of the patients. Jada Torney, RN has a heart of gold. Not only is she an amazing nurse to all her patients and families, but she also takes time to realize when others need a moment to de-stress or sense they need a little compassion and understanding. Jada is a true representation of compassion in everything she does. Tonight, for example, Jada had been working in the ER; being the compassionate, caring person she is, Jada learned about some patient transfers we were getting from UT ER, a truly sad situation that would make anyone want to tear up. Having had to be part of codes and watch kids ask questions and see families hurting. Jada also understands what the nurses, MDs, and all other staff members involved are going through. Jada decided to do something for the staff at UT ER and ordered, paid for it herself, Insomnia Cookies with a note saying, " Thinking of you all. Sending love from your friends at ETCH ER". We absolutely love Jada and all she does for ETCH, especially the ER. She truly cares about being a nurse, listening, understanding, and taking the time to show compassion and excellence every day to everyone.
