I wanted to nominate this nurse because she is one of those nurses that everyone turns to for leadership, guidance, and direction. Staff follow her lead and learn from her daily. She has worked at ABH through many phases and changes, and although there are challenging times here and there, she can step back, think outside the box, and ease everyone’s tension and stress. This nurse quickly identifies patients’ needs and makes sure they are brought to the forefront. She sees solutions when others feel lost. She is great at making interventions simple and meaningful. She isn’t afraid to say what is on her mind to advocate for her patients and coworkers. She looks at her patient’s care plans and prioritizes interventions that will help them succeed. Recently, she quickly recognized a solution to avoid multiple subsequent restraints for mandated medications. She quickly got the treatment team on board with a plan that made sense for the patient and her staff. She has volunteered for groups outside of nursing’s responsibility, simply to be able to have the undivided time to engage in creative activities with her patients. She donated multiple creations to our employee fundraising events.
