Jadine is the model representation of professionalism, delivering high-quality care with kindness and empathy. I am eternally grateful to Jadine for being my advocate when I could not do that for myself.
Models empathy and demonstrates a caring attitude in all situations: Jadine has gone above and beyond in every interaction with me, whether it’s taking my blood, calling me to give me lab results, or being there during my hysteroscopy and looking after me immediately after when I was not well, and the consultant was not providing respectful or dignified care. Jadine is the model representation of professionalism, delivering high-quality care with kindness and empathy. I work in the field of reproductive health research as an Associate Professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and am familiar with standards of reproductive health care in the U.K., so was appalled by the care I received from the consultant before, during and after my hysteroscopy, but am eternally grateful to Jadine for being my advocate when I could not do that for myself. One example - after I was in intense pain after the hysteroscopy and feeling very faint and nauseous, I asked the consultant for pain relief. Instead of answering me, she turned to my husband and said, “Does your wife have a low pain threshold?” This was insulting and not helpful. She gave me a pain pill after Jadine spoke to her and advocated for me. It should not have been such a palaver to get a single pain pill when I was clearly unwell and not really even able to speak.

Demonstrates extraordinary clinical skills in the delivery of compassionate patient care: I did not have a smooth hysteroscopy, as confirmed when I spoke to Jadine afterward, and she also ended up discussing how the locum consultant could have done things differently with senior management. I was in a lot of pain and discomfort during the hysteroscopy, and felt that not only was Jadine my advocate, but she also was a great help to the locum consultant, who was often very verbally unsure at times about what she was doing or had to be gently told how to do parts of the procedure and pain relief management both during and after the procedure by Jadine.

Has a positive attitude and demonstrates professionalism in the work environment: Jadine has always been compassionate, kind and professional in all her interactions with me, as well as when speaking about her colleagues. Even when she had concerns about the locum consultant who did my hysteroscopy, she watched her tone, stayed calm and respectful with everyone, and demonstrated teamwork, even when some things were clearly not going smoothly. I was planning to raise a complaint against the consultant who did my hysteroscopy but decided not to when I met with Jadine a week after, asked her about whether the procedure had gone roughly as it should have gone, and she let me know that she had raised concerns directly with senior management.

Exemplifies the mission, vision, and values of the Trust: Given Jadine’s positive and helpful attitude, both to patients and staff (even the locum consultant who did my hysteroscopy), as well as her excellent clinical skills, I cannot think of anyone else I’ve ever interacted with at Homerton who better exemplifies the mission, values, and vision of the Trust.

Establishes a special connection with the patients and families: as outlined above, Jadine has gone above and beyond to look after me while I’ve had two complicated incomplete miscarriages (the latter, which they indirectly thought was an ectopic pregnancy for a few weeks). She has also always been very kind to my husband when he accompanied me to appointments and the hysteroscopy.
