Jadyn Brooks

I am a nurse on the SICU at Ochsner Main Campus, and Jaydyn was paired with me for a shift. While this was only Jaydyn’s second shift in the ICU, she showed exemplary calm and compassionate care during an emergent situation with a young patient on our unit. When the patient coded, most students would prioritize their learning and go observe the code. But Jaydyn took it upon herself to comfort the patient’s mother. She brought the inconsolable mom with me to the waiting room. Jaydyn sat on the floor, hugging the crying mom, bringing her tissues, and even initiating a beautiful prayer that brought a lot of peace to the mom during a terrifying moment. Jaydyn even took it upon herself to check back in on the mom later in the day. I believe this beautiful and compassionate care deserves to be recognized. The world needs more nurses like Jaydyn!
