RN, BSN
Jae is an example of an extraordinary nurse. Jae has been helping everyone on the floor whenever she is on duty. She is a strong team player who regularly goes above and beyond to help other colleagues. I have spent many nights working with this colleague. She is always my resource an go-to person while I was in the residency program. Jae always takes pleasure in helping everyone out, from stocking gloves on the wall to making sure the nurses station remains clean. She assists with completing admissions and administering meds for colleagues on break.
On one occasion, it was my 3rd shift of work and there were only 4 nurses staffed. I had been swamped, drained, and completely burned out by 3 back-to-back admissions, while I was helping my second patient settle in, Jae stepped in to help with the third admit as if it were her own. Not only was the admission completed, but CMU had bed called for the tele box, the SCD’s had been placed on the patient and when this nurse took a critical lab result, she took it upon herself to contact MD for orders on my behalf- all without my knowledge because I was still busy with the rest of my patients. When I finally got ready to set foot in the patient’s room, I realized that this special nurse had already completed the job and the patient was resting comfortably. She looked over at me and said, “Regina, your patient is here, but I took care of everything. It’s all done”. What a sigh of relief that was for me. this nurse was so efficient.
I could go on and on with different scenarios where Jae has stepped in to help any of the other staffed nurses. When I working with this person, I feel like there is an angel by my side. I am always happy to work side-by-side with Jae. We need more RN’s like her.
