Jaida Dinius, RN
After two long, failed inductions that ended in a C-section, I had no idea what kind of recovery I was up against, physically or emotionally.
My first night as a new mom was one of the hardest of my life, and I can say without hesitation that I would not have made it through without Jaida.
Jaida was my night nurse on day one, and from the moment she walked in, she met me with compassion, calmness, and kindness. She listened, really listened to what I was going through. She cared for both me and my son with such gentle attention, like we were family.
She saw how determined I was to breastfeed despite the challenges I was facing and instead of letting me struggle alone, she stepped in to help. She guided me through proper positioning, reminded me when I needed to rest, and explained what my body needed to heal.
I was exhausted, in pain, and hesitant to send my son to the nursery. Jaida not only honored my desire to breastfeed, but she also reassured me that he will be with her the entire time so I could rest without guilt and she kept her word.
She even suggested that since we worked so well together, I should request her for the next few nights. Those three nights with Jaida made all the difference. If not for her, I honestly believe I would have given up on breastfeeding.
What stands out most about Jaida is her intuition and quiet strength. In a moment where she could tell I was nearing a breaking point, she gently said, “I know how hard you’re working; I’m putting you on pump rest tonight. We’ll do this together.”
She knew my goal was to breastfeed and she helped me protect that goal.
Now, nine months later, I’ve exclusively breastfed my son and continue to heal from my C-section. I often think back on the wisdom and encouragement Jaida shared during those early days. Her words still echo in my mind during long nights and tough moments.
I’m grateful to every provider who cared for me, but I am especially grateful for Jaida. Her support changed my experience and made a lasting impression on my life.
