Jaime is special because he values his team members as people, not just as staff members; he has a holistic leadership approach, ensuring that we all maintain a healthy work/life balance.
He builds trust by keeping sensitive information confidential, following through on his promises, and keeping clear and open communication about issues that the team faces. He empowers his staff members by encouraging upward mobility - he fosters an environment that prioritizes learning and career advancement; he implores his team to become certified, continue their education, and grow within the company.
He motivates us to give patient-centered care by always thinking about how our decisions will impact patient safety and comfort; he models the work ethic that he expects from his team by immediately addressing issues that we bring him.
For a particular example, some staff members expressed that they wanted more exposure and education to Code Blue situations and advanced respiratory support; that same day, he installed a resource guide for oxygen delivery systems and began discussing the logistics of our unit scheduling mock codes so we are better prepared when that situation arises again.
I have had many leaders and nurse managers in my career as a nurse, but Jaime is exceptional for his dedication to his role. He truly cares for each of his team members - he doesn't just see us as a number or a responsibility; he sees us for who we are.
Because of his leadership style, both our team at High Point Inpatient Dialysis and Lexington IP HD get along well and provide exceptional care to our patients.
