Jaime was rounding with cookies and cupcakes Sunday and made sure our whole family got something.
Jaime was so wonderful! We met her randomly as she was out walking the units of the hospital. From the first time meeting her, she put our whole family at ease. Whatever we needed or questions we had, she got the answer for us. We knew she should be getting off soon because we had seen her all day talking with other staff and patients, but that did not stop her from checking on us before she left for the evening.
Because of her, our mother was immediately tended to. She found her O2 sats down in the low sixties and made sure she was stable with more oxygen, ran, and got her nurse and respiratory therapist. Mom was moved to intensive care. Jaime made sure we were updated, comfortable, and had everything we needed – this was after 9 PM at night. She offered to go and grab food for us. She knew we needed “tended to,” and she just did it. It didn’t stop there – she became family to us – stopping and checking on us every day. She was rounding with cookies and cupcakes Sunday and made sure our whole family got something. She is not just a nurse, she is a daughter and treated us like we were part of her family! We would thank her, and she would say: “It was nothing – just paying it forward!” She sat and talked for a while one night and she shared her desire that each patient be treated with the love and respect that she wants her own family to be treated with. She does just that and more! Our Mom passed away, but because of Jaime, we were ready and there! Thank you so much, Jaime!
