Even as a staff member, and not a patient, Jaimie still made me feel like I mattered, and it means so much to me.
I am nominating Jaimie Young for her exceptional care of her peers. Jaimie has always gone above and beyond to make sure her coworkers are having a good day and if they aren’t, she will do anything in her power to change that. I was training in PACU a couple of weeks ago and wanted to eat the breakfast I brought from home before I went to their unit for the day. Jaimie asked how my pancakes were and I told her they were fine, I just eat them with peanut butter when I’m here because we don’t have any syrup nearby. She giggled a little, and within the next day or two, there were 3 packets of syrup in our short-stay breakroom waiting for my next batch of pancakes! I was thrilled! Thanked her, of course, and raved about it to my other coworkers.
Today, a coworker of ours asked if I saw that Jaimie had gotten me more syrup, which I hadn’t noticed yet. I had brought waffles for breakfast last week but didn’t have time to eat them yet. So today was the day! I made my waffles and found the butter and syrup waiting for me again in the breakroom. I know normally the DAISY Award is for nurses that give amazing care to patients, which Jaimie does, but I want her to be recognized for more than that. Even as a staff member, and not a patient, Jaimie still made me feel like I mattered, and it means so much to me. Nurses help other nurses be great nurses!”
