Jake was my nurse on the Neuro Unit. He has an infectious, bubbly personality. I remember vividly the first time he walked into my room, I knew he wasn't just my nurse and a stranger, but he was going to be my friend. He is caring and compassionate, and most importantly he treats me like a human being. He is encouraging. One particular instance, I was having issues with my spouse and Jake told me to get the negativity out so we can have a great day. Negativity is not good for your condition and will not assist in your healing. On this day Jake allowed me to cry, yell and let it all out. I think about this moment and how it helped me. I often find myself saying "What would Jake say?" Jake goes above and beyond the call of duty and helps me heal.
