Jamelle has a true passion for what she does and it shows in her care.
I was in the hospital for a quadruple bypass and had complications after surgery. When my two chest tubes were removed, I suffered a collapsed lung and had to have a third chest tube put in. The chest tube did not work so my chest, neck, and face blew up with air below the skin. I ended up being rushed to the Intensive Care Unit. After a night in the ICU they removed the third chest tube and replaced it with a fourth and I ended up back on the cardiac floor. By this time I had been in the hospital over a week and release was nowhere in sight. At this point, my wife and I lost hope and were at a very low point. I did not think I was ever going to make it out of the hospital.
When the night shift started, my new nurse, Jamelle, walked in. She had such a light about her. After one night in her care, she made me feel supported, reassured, and overall cared for. I had very good care from the nursing staff up to this point but she blew away the standard of care and really went the extra mile putting me at ease. She was very knowledgeable about my procedure and about what I was going to experience during recovery. By the time the morning came, my wife and I both had a renewed faith that everything was going to be all right We saw light at the end of the tunnel.
Jamelle was my nurse for the next two nights and her standard of care only got better. She was super informative and reassuring that I was on my way to healing. Jamelle has a true passion for what she does and it shows in her care. I feel like a met a real angel on this earth. My recovery and attitude would not have been the same if I had not met her. I feel super fortunate that I was under her care. In the years to come, I may forget details of my time in LRH but I will never forget Jamelle. She is the best nurse and overall amazing, caring human being I have ever met. She really made me feel valued and cared for. She deserves to get the highest award you have to offer. I cannot say enough good things about Jamelle. I will be eternally in her debt.
