From being an educator Jim answered a call to duty during back-to-back days of mass casualty incidents. Even with unsafe staffing numbers, Jim advocates for both his fellow nurses and patients. He is everything a nurse should aspire to be within this system. He is a leader that we are all willing to follow he leads by example. I can't think of anyone more deserving. Jim has been the ONLY thing keeping some of our new ED RNs from running out of the building. He has continued to dedicate his true nurse heart to preserving the desire and aim to provide excellent care in the toughest of times. He seeks no recognition or special treatment when he goes above and beyond. He simply embodies what a true nurse is, and always serves as an example of that to his teammates, new grads, and patients. Whenever I see him, he checks in on me, how are you holding up? Can I do anything for you— if I express dismay at the situation we are in, he just smiles, sometimes a little sadly, but he says, we are here for a reason. We are here to take care of our community and teach our new nurses how to do the same.
