James' calm demeanor helped me to relax because I knew he'd be doing everything in his power to give me the best care and stay during this time.
James is the kind of nurse who does the job because he truly cares about his patients. He works diligently at the highest quality level of service. His bedside manner is tremendous and helps his patients to feel validation for whatever issue has brought them to the hospital. His calm temperament helped to put me at ease and the kindness he showed me helped me to not feel so lonely during this time of no visitors.
He is extremely intelligent and thinks about what might be helpful ahead of time. For example, I came in with a central line infection. Before the PICC team could redress the site in anticipation of it being removed, James took the time and energy to figure out how to use his work phone to add pictures so that the Infectious Disease doctor would have something available to review to help him come up with a more educated plan of action. James didn't have to do this, and truthfully many nurses would not have. This example epitomized James and his unwavering hard work, teamwork, and making choices with the care of his patient as his top priority.
James' work ethic is second to none. His calm demeanor helped me to relax because I knew he'd be doing everything in his power to give me the best care and stay during this time. Maybe the thing about James that impressed me the most is his humility. He is the type of nurse who gives great service whether others are watching or not. When I told James I wanted to nominate him for this award, he politely declined and told me the greatest satisfaction he feels in his work is just hearing that his patients were happy with his patient care.
James is everything a nurse should strive to be. Please thank James from the bottom of my heart.
