James (Jim) Church, RN
The patient continuously complimented James (Jim) Church, RN, and how he always came to check on her without her having to call and felt cared for the entirety of his night shifts with her. Jim was attentive and dependable to return when he said he would, and he addressed the patient’s needs and pain control. The patient also complimented how caring and considerate it was that he took the time to listen to her when she had concerns.
Jim’s coworkers always describe him as kind, caring, compassionate, dependable, knowledgeable, and professional. He is a team player, quick to lend a hand wherever it is needed. Jim joined Kershaw Medical in a traveler position. When his contract ended, he returned as a full-time nurse. When the charge nurse position opened, Jim stepped up to serve as the permanent night shift charge nurse. Jim is a skilled charge nurse and sets the standard for care team members by leading by example. He is familiar with all the patients and monitors changes in conditions. He is a wealth of knowledge and shares it with his team. He mentors new care team members, teaching the art of critical thinking. In addition to his clinical skills, Jim is quick to recognize his coworkers for going above and beyond. He will send a thank you card promptly with a heartfelt personal message.
