Usually, James serves as a nurse in our Cath Lab. However, during our recent surge, additional RN support was needed in Critical Care areas and Nurse Wells floated to the CCU for, I think, three days. Although Nurse Wells was new to the assignment, I am told that he performed the very difficult work of those days with skill, compassion, and an enthusiastic spirit. On a day when three patients at end-of life were transitioned to comfort in his pod, James assisted with the thoughtful navigation of complex family dynamics in one room while simultaneously providing caring support to the grieving child of a passing patient in the next. Everyone who worked alongside RN Wells was encouraged by his willing spirit and competent caregiving. His work allowed us to provide excellent medical and spiritual care in extraordinarily sensitive circumstances.
