Jamie motivates his team by encouraging the structure of a successful unit-based council that allows his team to share resources that promote professional development, address concerns, and implement actions that will positively impact the care and safety of our patients.
James "Jamie" Moore is not just the manager of the Multispecialty Units (The Oaks) on the Parkridge campus. Jamie exemplifies what it takes to be a genuine leader to his team as Jamie truly leads by example. Jamie effortlessly role models extraordinary care by not only meeting target goals for rounding in his unit but also collaborating with the Emergency Department leadership to initiate a process of rounding in the emergency department for those patients awaiting a room in his unit. During his outstanding leader rounds, Jamie makes a conscious effort of sitting at eye level to create a connection, establish trust, and ensure the patient feels heard. Moreover, Jamie extends an open line of communication by leaving his business card with the patient and family. Through this process, Jamie has created trust among patients, who have expressed a sense of relief, and they are no longer anxious about the transfer to another area.
Jamie continues to set the bar high as a leader. One memorable example of Jamie's dedication to demonstrating compassion to those we serve includes his swift reaction to address an elderly patient's concern of not having the resources needed upon discharge home. As a request from the patient, Jamie went above and beyond by visiting the patient's home, speaking with her family and neighbors, and assuring food was available and accessible to the patient. Jamie assures the patient that she is safe and that the needed support and resources are readily available to aid her recovery. Both the patient, family, and neighbors expressed how grateful they were for Jamie's commitment to ensuring her concerns were addressed and how Jamie went above and beyond to do so. This speaks volumes to Jamie's commitment to inspire health, serve with compassion, and be the difference.
Jamie consistently set expectations for his team with goals of decreasing cost and improving patient outcomes. The significant expectation of Jamie's team is to require patients to be out of bed 3 times a day with meals. As this expectation promotes better patient outcomes, it also decreases the patient's length of stay.
Jamie motivates his team by encouraging the structure of a successful unit-based council that allows his team to share resources that promote professional development, address concerns, and implement actions that will positively impact the care and safety of our patients. Jamie's support of his unit council has allowed team members additional support in completing tuition reimbursement, applying for student loan assistance, and aiding in a beneficial understanding of the clinical ladder attainment process.
Jamie is currently working towards earning a Master of Nursing degree with a specialization in leadership. Jamie's commitment to furthering his education has inspired and encouraged his team members to look further into doing the same as he promotes career growth and professional development amongst his team.
