September 2024 Honoree
James Shin, RN
When my husband was wheeled from his cardiologist’s office to the ED at Shady Grove because he was having a heart attack, we were terribly frightened. James was one of the nurses in the ED where my husband was taken and examined. After testing, James came out to see me and tell me what was going to happen – that my husband would go to the cath lab for catheterization. He reassured me that all would be fine and told me he would continue to check on him, and he did. He observed in the cath lab and reported back to me that it was done successfully. Then, on his breaks, he came up to my husband’s ICU room to check on him and me during our stay. This was a very scary, anxious time for us, and to have James’ frequent check-ins in the ED and then in the ICU was incredibly reassuring and supportive. He was able to explain clearly what was done in the cath lab and how it was successful. We appreciate his patience and kindness and the fact that he has continued to be supportive during my husband’s stay. Thank you, James!
Thank you, James, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
