Jim is kind, helpful, courteous, very knowledgeable, and to us, such a great part of the Wound Care Department.
I am a friend/care helper for a partially disabled friend. This gentleman, C, is very independent, has some short-term and long-term memory issues. He has only been disabled for 10 years, and before that was an independent man who did whatever he wanted and went wherever he wanted. He can be very stubborn and is not always honest about what he does, and how he does, or does not, take care of himself.
I always go into his appointments with him because he forgets what the doctors and nurses tell him, sometimes on purpose. From day one, Jim has made both of us feel very comfortable, asking C questions but always glancing in my direction to see my reaction to his answers. Jim has always made C feel important, but quietly included my responses in his advice to C. Jim has made sure to show C the picture of the wound each time and explained what he is seeing. He explained in detail what he was putting on the wound, what it was designed to do, and why they felt that was the best avenue of healing for it. Any questions I have ever had, he explained answers in detail. As he was wrapping C's leg, he would check to make sure the bandage was not uncomfortable for him, but still on sufficiently tight enough to do the job. Jim always checks for convenient times for the next appointment since it is a 30-mile trip for my husband and me to bring him in.
And finally, Jim helped to get the Home Health Nurse started for him, which has been such a Godsend for me. Jim is kind, helpful, courteous, very knowledgeable, and to us, such a great part of the Wound Care Department. You folks, and all his patients, are very blessed to have this caring, smart nurse on your staff!

Note: This is Jim's 2nd DAISY Award!
