James Tran, MSN, RN

James Tran is an exceptional nurse who consistently provides nursing care to our veteran patients on a daily basis. One example of James’s outstanding nursing care was when a 32-year-old veteran patient came to the ED experiencing a mental health emergency. Initially, the patient was hesitant to check in and resistant to seeking help. Doctors and other nurses were unable to establish a rapport with him, but James was able to develop a trusting relationship with him. James was attentive, showing the patient empathy, compassion, and kindness. The patient felt safe and heard. The patient later expressed that prior to arriving at the ED, he truly did not want to come in and had thoughts of ending his life, but because of James's advocacy and outstanding nursing care, he saved his life.
