I am blessed to say that this was my first stay in the hospital. With this news, the nerves definitely set in. Jim was my nurse and was waiting for me at the door. He checked me in and it was obvious right away he knew what he was doing. This helped me calm down right away. I could tell that Jim is a very detail-oriented person, but he is also kind. He reassured me, constantly asked if I needed anything, and thoroughly explained anything I asked of him. I was so thankful when he was my nurse on days.
It is also obvious he is an important member of this team. People constantly came to him for advice any time he was working with me and he was always right there helping them out, yet never pushing me aside to do so. At one point, he had to stay with me for 15 minutes to make sure I didn’t have a reaction to my medicine and he stood and talked to me like we were old friends. I guess what it really boils down to is that he treated me like a person. He treated my family with respect and kindness, he treated his co-workers with respect and kindness. Jim is every bit as valuable as he made me feel and I will never forget that. Thank you, Jim!
