There are no words to describe the compassion, empathy, heart of gold that Jamey has for his patients and peers.
Today was a very difficult day for the Interventional Department team and code team as they battled to keep a patient breathing and alive while her family anxiously waited outside the procedure room. Jamey's actions were exemplary as he remained with the patient the entire time.
Jamey spent a great deal of time getting to know the patient and her family. They spoke about the procedure that she was about to undergo, but more importantly, he made a connection with the family and patient as they talked about where she had lived prior as well as getting to know the family that accompanied her. During the procedure, Jamey was extremely anxious. When the patient stopped breathing, he assisted with the CPR and stayed completely by the patient's side trying along with the team to restart her heart. Unfortunately, this story has a sad ending for the patient and her family; but it is a true testament to the compassion and care that Summerlin nurses like Jamey provide, not just in situations like this, but all the time. He stayed with the patient until she was wheeled out of the department one last time.
This is not the first, and I know it won't be the last time that I thank him for being such an amazing nurse! He is everything that I would want in a nurse caring for me or my family. I am grateful every day that he is part of our team, and I hope that he realizes how loved and appreciated he is each and every day by my team.
