My mother was admitted after a very serious fall at her home. We were very worried and confused by the many tests that were running, and wondered if we would get answers about the cause of the accident. My mother was very resistant to taking a medicine that would potentially save her life. Everyone in our family tried to change her mind with no success. Jamie sat with her one night and talked to her about it. She listened as my mother listed the reasons; she opposed the new medication. Jamie was understanding but also discussed how it would benefit her. By the end of the conversation, my mother decided to try it based on Jamie's discussion with her. Jamie was able to do what none of us were able to do. She very well could have saved my mother's life! When I asked my mother why Jamie was her favorite nurse, she was quick to answer. She said that Jamie made her feel at home. She was here every time I needed her. She spent time just talking and getting to know us. Every time someone came to the door, she hoped it would be Jamie, she gave her something to look forward to in a time when we felt like she was losing hope. Jamie has been a blessing to so many as a very knowledgeable nurse with a heart of love and service to others.
