May 2009 Honoree
jamie barker, RN, BSN, CPON
Jamie was able to touch the life of one of our patients and their family. Through her passion in educating the staff about their diagnosis, she advocated for a parent who needed to pursue a second opinion for their adolescent. Jamie also was contacted to assist this patient and family with her other passion, fertility preservation. The patient's father spoke with her and shared that because of his interaction with her, not only was his son diagnosed but now has the potential to have a family of his own when he is ready. Jamie was so touched by this, and even though she is not a direct caregiver anymore (she is a clinical educator) she assists the staff and families in the pursuit of quality of life.
Thank you, Jamie, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
