September 2022 Honoree
Jamie Gerber, MSN, RN, CCRN
Jamie consistently provides compassionate care to her patients. One in particular she went the extra mile to make sure this patient had a memorable experience despite her circumstance. A teenage girl that has been in and out of the hospital her entire life due to a genetic disorder was once again admitted to the hospital and put on ECMO for many weeks. The tradeoff for saving her life was missing her high school graduation which she was dearly looking forward to. When the patient found out that she would not be walking across the stage with her peers she was devastated. Without hesitation, Jamie planned a graduation party for the patient, inviting her friends and family to celebrate a milestone she was almost positive she was going to miss. Without Jamie’s kindness and compassion, this patient would have viewed her graduation as something other than rememberable. I believe Jamie deserves this award (and more) for what she does for her patients big or small.
Thank you, Jamie, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
