Before we came in to say our final goodbyes, Jamie cleaned my mom up and braided her hair.

My mom was in the ICU west at Kaiser Roseville on a ventilator due to COVID-19. Often, Jamie would be her nurse and she would walk us through the condition my mom was in and explain the readings on the machines she was on. Nearing toward the end of that time, we’ve come to realize that my mom no longer had any fight left and she was declining rapidly. Jamie had been off a couple of days and at that time when we made the decision to place her on comfort care. We would call in for daily updates, and I can’t tell you how relieved I was that she answered the phone to give us our update the day before the ventilator was removed.

My mom passed away and Jamie was by our side to see that she was comfortable as she left this earth. I can only hope if anyone else has to deal with this situation, they have someone like Jamie to be with their loved one since we are not allowed to be with them. I do thank God for having her there with my mom during that time. Before we came in to say our final goodbyes, Jamie cleaned my mom up and braided her hair. Thank you, Jamie, for being our light in our days of darkness.
