My husband went to the ER for shortness of breath. After many tests, our lives changed forever. He was diagnosed with cancer. He was very much looking forward to Thanksgiving this year. Our son was coming home on leave after serving 2 ½ years in Japan. It would be the first time in several years that our whole family would be together. When he got his diagnosis, he was determined to go home for Thanksgiving and come back the following week to start treatment. The Oncologist highly recommended against this due to how advanced his cancer was. He needed to do his treatment inpatient, so that meant he would miss Thanksgiving.

He had the same RN for most of his 2 weeks stay, Jaime. Jaime went above and beyond his duties as his nurse. He knew how disappointed my husband was that he would be in the hospital over the holiday. Jamie found a room at the hospital so our family could bring Thanksgiving to him! What a difference Jamie made not only to my husband but also to his entire family. He not only brightened the holiday, but he also made a special connection with him, swapping service stories and always checking in to make sure he was doing okay, even when he wasn’t assigned to him as his nurse. My husband spent many days/weeks at the hospital over the past few months. Jamie has made his stays a little more bearable. He not only took care of medical needs but always made sure to check in on me (spouse) too. Thank you, Jamie, for your exceptional care. You made a meaningful difference during his stays and during very hard moments in our lives.
