There was inclement weather with warnings of dangerous driving conditions, and the Health Aide was unable to visit one of the Veterans due to the weather. Jamie made an unscheduled visit to the Veteran's home to check on him because she knew his wife was in the hospital.
When Jamie arrived, the Veteran did not have a working phone or a working guardian alert because the batteries had failed. She assisted the Veteran with his care needs then drove back home to charge the batteries for his guardian alert. When Jamie returned to his home she provided him a loaner cell phone, freshly charged set of batteries, and enough homemade stew for three days. She further educated him to call 911 if he had an emergency and she could not get there quickly.
Jamie's care and compassion toward this Veteran are above and beyond her job duties. This is a truly a heartfelt random act of kindness. She used her critical thinking skills to save this Veteran's life.
