We were so fortunate to have Jamie as our day nurse. She had the unique ability to see beyond the bluster of an aging man who just wanted to go home and pretend that none of these cardiovascular issues were real and very serious. Jamie was kind and persistent. She freely gave us the time to discuss and understand the situation and the steps that needed to be taken to move forward. She was honest in presenting information with risks and benefits. She gave us hope when we were frightened that we were where we needed to be and receiving the care that would help improve the situation. When it was time to leave, she provided clear instructions and made us promise to seek help immediately if certain symptoms occurred. There is nothing better than the comfort of a human connection.
