Being in the hospital is never a fun time for any reason but in my case (waiting to find out if I had lung cancer) was a scary time for our family. As I lay in my room not knowing the outcome of all of my test results, in walks My Angel Nurse Jamie Payton. Jamie was a ray of sunshine that lit up my room every time she walked in - not only to me but to my family. She put my mind at ease and made me smile and laugh every time we spoke, which isn't an easy thing to do when you don't know if you have the Big C or not. Jamie had a way of helping me feel at ease no matter what may come in the news in the days and weeks ahead.
From her smile, laugh, answering any question we may have had, Jamie answered them all and if she didn't know she was quick to find out for all of us. Jamie is the Angel Nurse every patient in the hospital should have. Jamie was always professional and knows the job inside and out. I don't think nurses get enough credit for all of the things they do. Jamie was not only my nurse but I like to think my friend because that's how she made me and my family feel as well.
I know when you work in a hospital you're not supposed to get attach to your patients but I don't think that's a good rule of thumb to have and this is why I feel this way. A lot of people come into the hospital with no family, friends or anyone that cares what happens to them - then you have an Angel Nurse like Jamie that comes in and makes you feel at ease and like family, with a warm smile and a friendly hello and even a warm hug - sometimes that's all a person needs to make them feel good about themselves and being in the hospital sometimes maybe for a few days or maybe it's the end of your days here on earth and to have someone like Angel Nurse Jamie be by your side makes all the difference in the world. I know because Jamie made me and my family feel this way while in the hospital.
I could go on and on but I will stop here with this statement - I'm so happy to say I'm cancer free - thank you Jesus - and thank you to My Angel Nurse Jamie for being by, not only my side, but my families side while I was at Baptist Hospital. You made a very difficult time in my and my family's life a lot easier to handle all because you are one in a million. I will always think of you as My Angel Nurse and Friend. My God bless you and all nurses always all over the world. Because without nurses like you, our hospital stay/stays would be much more difficult to handle. We love you Angel Nurse Jamie. Thank you for taking the time to listen to me and for being my Angel Nurse Friend. God bless always.
Note: This is Jamie's second DAISY Award!
