On November 24, we had the day planned to go Black Friday shopping. I started the car and took off, but not even 30 seconds from leaving the house I lost control of the wheel and we crashed. From there it was all a blur. I remember being told there was no heartbeat and feeling completely numb. Being asked how I wanted to deliver my deceased child, I didn’t want to be awake for any of it and had an emergency c-section. I don’t even remember holding her in my arms after. My nurse was working the night shift, and I felt a sense of peace and comfort. She held my hand through my heartache. She showed up on her day off and came in with presents and told me nobody should leave the hospital empty-handed. There were some complications and was not discharged and was transferred to Butterworth. I will never forget my nurse and the impact she made on my family’s life. Words cannot begin to describe how grateful I was to have met a real-life angel. Thank you.
