Jamie is always my nurse when I have my infusions. She always greets us with high energy and a smile on her face. I typically have early morning appointments, so she always has a private room ready for us and makes sure we have everything we need to be comfortable. Jamie always goes above and beyond and acts with the utmost professionalism.

I was fortunate to have Jaime as my nurse while my regular nurse was recovering from surgery, although this is not the first time I’ve interacted with her. She is genuinely interested in the patients that come to the infusion center. Jaime is highly skilled, prepared, and compassionate. Knowing that she would have to fill in for K and that I have many complex conditions, she prepared well in advance to recognize the mast cell flares and what to do. She assisted the doctor by administering the Benadryl at exactly the right time to shut down the mast cell flare before I needlessly suffered. She checked in several times afterward to make sure I was okay. After the poor experiences in the hospital and EDs, I decided not to go to the ED for further mistreatment. Jaime sat and talked to me about what that could mean, as my WBC count came back high while I was there. She implored me to go to the ED and said she and K would call ahead to give info on the mast cell flares and possibly anaphylaxis. I trusted them and their explanations. At the point I was crying, Jaime joked (to lighten my mood) that if there were a problem, “niece Jaime” would come to the hospital to advocate for me. I likely would not have gone if she hadn’t demonstrated that there are still healthcare providers who really care.

I was recently in the hospital and had to postpone my infusion. Not only did she get me in, but she also prepared ahead and contacted the charge nurse on the floor to ensure that I went home accessed in preparation for the infusion a couple of days later, in which she was the only nurse working, and it could be dangerous if I had a mast cell flare while she tried to access it alone. She also connects on an individual level. She knows my dog's name and asks about him. She knows my family restores old cars and I showed her a picture. And then she made me an amazing cookie with my car on it for my birthday. She graciously shares her talents with me by making artful holiday cookies. She is an exceptional nurse and an authentically thoughtful person.
