Jamine White is an extraordinary nurse, an exceptional associate, a huge asset to the CVOR, Cardiac Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology and Endoscopy Departments and is a true DAISY Nurse. Let me tell you a little about her:
Jamine is one of the Charge RNs on the CVOR team. She is directly responsible for patient care in cardiothoracic surgery. In my years of experience in the operating room, Jamine's quick grasp and knowledge of the circulating RN role is unparalleled. She appears to be a walking encyclopedia of knowledge when it comes to patient history and safe care, and she loves to share her knowledge with her colleagues and the rest of the surgical team. In the past 2 years, we've experienced a decline in CVOR case volume and conversely a high staffing turnover in the Cath Lab. Before I could even tell her the need for additional staffing support in the Cath Lab, Jamine had already suggested floating in the Cath Lab to address these challenges by picking up on-call hours. Furthermore, she volunteered to be the preceptor and train the CVOR nurses in the Cath Lab as we move forward into the cross training model. Because there was a lot of floating involved, Jamine had to arrive early and sometimes stay late to provide adequate coverage. Meanwhile, the Endoscopy Department is also facing some staffing challenges and Jamine will often volunteer to float in a pre-procedural RN role.
Jamine's customer service skills are exemplary. She is one of the friendliest people I know and she always arrives with a smile on her face and a happy greeting for her co-workers. Although Jamine is responsible for admitting and taking care of patients in the OR, she can often be found updating patient's family members on the phone or helping the scrub techs clean up after a case. Below are a few of the comments I've received from other associates and leaders:
"How anyone can take so many call hours is beyond me, but Jamine just did. She has absolutely gone above and beyond her call of duty!"
"Jamine is the best nurse we've ever met. She was very patient and answered all our questions."
"Jamine's Cath Lab knowledge is fantastic! I really appreciate how friendly she is and how she makes me feel at ease."
"I recently took Jamine's nurse-to-nurse report and I think she could tell I was still confused at the end because she offered to repeat the information one more time to help me understand and personalized the report to my own situation. That was so unexpected and thoughtful of her."
Although Jamine does not have the official designation of "supervisor" in her job title, she has proven herself to be the go-to-gal for staff in departments throughout the hospital. Thank you, Jamine, for all that you do.
