Jamie has an innate ability to make you feel at ease and believe in her as a skilled nurse. She listens to you and assesses the situation, never discounting your thoughts or perspective and proves herself as a consummate caregiver.
When I met her, she was training another nurse. Throughout this 12-hour shift, I was able to see Jamie care for my mother by herself as well as instruct her trainee on various tasks. As a mentor, she was direct, precise, and authentic. Her trainee asked questions and she was able to answer them and provide takeaways, too. She was patient; but more importantly, kind.
Approximately 10 days later, my mom came back to 7GN and I was elated to see Jamie and we talked for a little bit. Her presence provided a sense of security. Even though Jamie was not my mom's nurse, I felt confident that my mom would be taken care of because Jamie was on the floor. A few days later, she came into my mom's room to make sure everything was fine. I found out that she was the Charge Nurse for the day. Now, I had the pleasure of observing her as a leader. She checked on all the nurses, making sure that they had everything that they needed and if she could be of any assistance in any way. She did not do this one time but several times throughout the day.
