I nominate Jan because she exemplified the type of compassion and caring towards me that I have never before had. I am going through postpartum depression after having my son at St. Mary Mercy Hospital. My fiance looked troubled when he left my room and she asked what was wrong. He told her that he was overwhelmed and didn't know how to deal with me. I was going through so many emotions and a depression that is terrible and feeling of worry and pain encumbering me. Jan came in and talked to me and I will never forget the kind words of love that exhumed from her caring nature. She helped me remember the most important facts and hugged me when I needed it the most. I don't know what would have happened without her and her selflessness when I was in a time of despair. My fiance came in and I was crying and Jan subtly told me that a person needs a hundred hugs a day. I said that I would sure like a hug. My fiance got the picture and came and hugged me. This made us forget everything and just celebrate in the fact that we had each other and now our beautiful baby boy, because it would be a much happier place where there is always a hug waiting when you need one.
