Jan O'Rourke, RN

Jan is the epitome of what a great nurse should be. She has compassion, good listening skills, creativity, compassion, and patience. She is authentic in her care. Jan is soft-spoken and puts our patients at ease when in the infusion suite. She sits down and greets patients at eye level when caring for them. She listens earnestly and eases the patients’ fears. She seeks out Sprite or ginger ale from another nurse that has a stock of it when a patient is nauseated. She is one of my go-to people in the infusion room because she rarely says "No, we don't have the space" if a patient needs IV Fluids. She puts the patient first while also assisting her colleagues. This is why I know Jan is perfect for this award. It's not just one or two incidents, it's her DAILY WALK!
