Jana consistently displays a positive attitude no matter what situation or dilemma is occurring at the time.
Jana Johnson, Endoscopy Services Nurse Manager is a dedicated leader who provides a safe, nurturing environment, and supports diversity within her team. She believes in both self and professional development of her team and demonstrates commitment, and has faithfully served our organization for 9 years. She leads by example and would not ask her team members to do something she would not do.

Jana demonstrates compassion toward her team members and patients. Frequently, Jana can be seen on the unit working alongside her team and interacting with them, as well as with patients and their families. Jana exhibits fairness and humility and treats each of her team members with great respect at all times. Jana consistently displays a positive attitude no matter what situation or dilemma is occurring at the time. Her catchphrases include: "It is what it is.", "We will get through this!", and last, but not least; "We will figure it out! Notice her encouraging phrases start with "We".

Jana has worked extremely hard in the construction of the Endoscopy Suites to ensure safe, compassionate, and quality patient care occurs each day, and that her team feels supported. She leads her team seamlessly through great change, as evidenced by the unit's recent provision of PACU patient care. At times from the outside, it appears she is fighting an uphill battle, yet, she still has her trademark smile and maintains a positive "We will get through this" attitude, no matter what. In addition to the Endoscopy Services, Jana provides oversight as manager of Vidant's outpatient endoscopy services, East Carolina Endoscopy Center (ECEC). She supports the ECEC team with the same excellent leadership and gift of time as she delivers within the hospital. Under the leadership of Jana, ECEC has received initial accreditation through the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), and Jana has been vital in assisting with overall preparedness and ensuring continuous quality measures exceed standards to renew accreditation in 2023. Jana will be humbled to know that she has been nominated as a candidate for the DAISY Leader Award. We know she will say, "Who, little old me?" when she is notified of her nomination. It is a great honor to collaborate with such an excellent leader within our organization.
