I had the pleasure of getting to know Jancy over the past two years as she cared for a dear friend who was a patient in the Head and Neck center. She described her friend as a television personality who was strong, independent, tell me like it is, kind of person. After her surgery, she was horribly disfigured and knew she would never be able to return to her former life. As they interacted over the two-year period of her illness, Jancy took the time to listen and understand who my friend was as a person. There was a visible connection between the two. Jancy related to my friend on a level that was founded on intellect, compassion, and strength. Her compassion allowed her to accept the transition from cure to comfort. After she passed, her husband expressed such gratitude for Jancy's love and care and shared his wife had thought of her as a friend.
