Jandi Smith, RN

I was a patient at the Firstenburg Heart Center for an ablation procedure. I was greeted at 6:15am by RN Jandi Smith and was in her care until 2:00pm. In all my previous hospital visits, and there have been many (Seattle, San Francisco), I have never had the VIP treatment as received from Jandi. She exemplifies all the criteria you have listed for extraordinary nurses. Considerations for warm blankets, my frequent need for restroom visits, continuous checks if everything was comfortable were given. She kept me updated on procedures to expect such as EKO technician arrival and time intervals till I was taken to the operation room. Questions she probably has answered hundreds of times were explained as if it was the first time she heard it but important to me. And it was so nice to see her waking from anesthesia. Leaving was like parting from a friend! I was most fortunate to have Jandi as my nurse. She should be the model and mentor for candidates thinking of entering the nursing profession. I am recovering well and needed to write you with the wish to endorse Miss Smith as a deserving recipient of the DAISY award.
