We went into Labor & Delivery for monitoring and ended up having the most calm and steady VBAC we could have asked for because of the nurses and midwives at Mount Auburn. My husband and I now refer to one nurse in particular as our MVP, Jane. Jane adapted my birth plan to accommodate every change that occurred during labor with such ease. She advocated for us and our wishes and made them happen. So much so that our baby was born just halfway through Jane’s shift. Complications ensued after the birth, and Jane never left my side. She was brilliant through labor, but she was spectacular through a medical emergency. Jane and the Mount Auburn midwives and doctor's fast actions saved my life. Jane facilitated many things during that moment, but what I recall most is an incredible nurse giving everything to keep me conscious. During the worst of it, Jane’s voice was all I could hear. Jane is truly one of the many incredible actions in that moment, resulting in my now two boys still having their mom to come home to and a husband still having his life partner. Gifting us with the best birthing experience possible, Jane then went above and beyond describable words as the voice and gentle touch that kept me conscious and calm during the scariest moment of my life.
