She is knowledgeable of health care delivery systems, the importance of collaboration, and the need to provide responsible, accountable care. She readily incorporates realistic information into her teaching in both didactic and clinical settings.
Doctor Anderson demonstrates mastery of engagement through her work as Medical Director and nurse practitioner (NP) provider at the Nurse Practitioner’s Clinic in downtown Minneapolis. Dr. Anderson has forged relationships with numerous entities in downtown Minneapolis. She has collaborated with RS Eden, a recovery center serving individuals with substance addiction, to develop a process for clinic providers to complete intake physicals for new individuals entering treatment. She has also developed an onsite clinic at RS Eden to better provide access to care for individuals in recovery. While this is currently on hold, she is working actively with RS Eden staff and new NP hires at the downtown NP Clinic to reestablish this presence.

Similarly, Jane has developed relationships with community entities such as the Waters Senior Living, Touchstone Mental Health, and Wilder family services to collaborate to establish primary care centers in these facilities during her tenure as Medical Director at the NP Clinic.

In addition, Dr. Anderson works closely with another M Health clinic near the downtown clinic to establish strong interprofessional working relationships and facilitate shared services when needed. For example, when either clinic is short rooming staff, administrators often negotiate with each other to share staff to offset the shortage and facilitate care delivery at both clinics. Similarly, Dr. Anderson developed relationships at the Clinic and Surgery Center of M Health to carve out space for a nurse practitioner clinic there. She has also worked closely with other departments within the MHealth Fairview system to forge new professional relationships and raise awareness of the services provided at the NP clinics.

Dr. Anderson is often the face of nurse practitioners in numerous MHealth Fairview system meetings and initiatives. She works tirelessly to promote the role of nurse practitioner and to champion the work and education of nurse practitioners. She has served on numerous systemwide committees in discussions on transforming and promoting primary care. She has also networked nationally on primary care health system initiatives.

Dr. Anderson proves her ability to adapt through initiatives such as laying the groundwork for providers within the NP Clinics to engage in telehealth at the start of the COVID pandemic and continuing today. Most importantly, Dr. Anderson shares her knowledge with our APRN students by integrating her work and leadership skills into her teaching. She is knowledgeable of health care delivery systems, the importance of collaboration, and the need to provide responsible, accountable care. She readily incorporates realistic information into her teaching in both didactic and clinical settings. Despite the multiple responsibilities of her roles, Jane consistently precepts nurse practitioner students in clinical practice and facilitates the completion of DNP scholarly projects within the nurse practitioner clinic settings. She has served as community partner for as many as three DNP projects in one semester. She also serves as DNP scholarly project faculty adviser to two to four DNP students in any given semester. She readily works with SON faculty to accommodate unique student clinical needs such as clinical skill remediation and is open to exploring pilot approaches to clinical rotations such as the dual Family Nurse Practitioner/Nurse Midwife student pilot clinical rotation this spring. She has participated in several grants aimed at enhancing care delivery to patients including the integration of oral health and mental health into primary care settings as well as better preparing students to meet the needs of underserved individuals.

Doctor Anderson is a true partner and proponent of the SON, APRN students, practicing APRNs, and the nursing profession. She is supportive, innovative, and committed to engagement in practice and teaching. I highly recommend her for this award to honor her continued contributions to the development of the APRN role and future APRN providers.
