When my husband was diagnosed with multiple myeloma over a year ago, we met Jane the very first day. She is Dr. G's nurse and I believe they are the most fantastic, caring professionals I know. As the caregiver, my perspective is different, I am sure, then my husband's but also in some instances the same. I have talked to Jane so many times in the time since the cancer diagnosis, that I tease Jane when I have a question or concern, I just call "1-800-JANE". We have talked while I was at home, on a walk on a rural highway where we live, in my car, so many places and she is always available or will call me right back.
Recently, we had planned a 3-day trip to attend a game. My husband developed some blood clots that became very evident the day we were to leave. When Dr. G told us the bad news, we both were in tears. Somehow, he was able to get the medicine in shots that I could administer. We found out later that week that Jane had been involved "behind the scenes "and Dr. G had discussed with her "how we can help them get to the destination" for our planned trip. It all worked out and we had a marvelous mini-vacation. RMCC has a very comfortable environment made extra special by nurses like Jane. I can't even imagine my husband's care without her. We are blessed to know her.
