Jane has worked in the Ob/Gyn/Nursery unit for 2 years. She is a very calm nurse and because of this she makes her patients feel very comfortable when she is providing care to them. Patients really trust her and as a result she has good relationships with them and their families; so that they have confidence in her care. She provides care to her patients in a precise way, she does not rush, and she gets patient care done in a way that makes her patients feel good.
Jane gets along with her co-workers and is well liked by them. She is a good team member. She helps others in the team without being asked when she sees that they are busy and can use some help. She is also well liked by the physicians, and she has good relationships with them as well.
Recently, the Nurse Manager of the unit received the following letter and DAISY Award nomination from the sister of one of Jane's patients, it reads as follows:
"I am writing you today as I want to commend one of your nurses for doing and exemplary and gracious job in the care of my sister. You have produced another professional who is caring, compassionate, empathetic, as well as a good employee.
Jane worked on the 30th for 12 hours and again on the 31st for 8 hours. In the time she was there she was professional, friendly, and a great help at putting my sister at ease. She asked about my sister's well-being and if she could help out with anything. She even made a schedule to walk with my sister and that is something that most of the staff have not been able to do. She put a smile on my sister's face and that is not a requirement but it is something that helps in the healing process. Jane made sure that all PICC formulas were set as prescribed as well as the pneumatic leg pressure equipment.
It is nice to see that you have another nurse that is up and coming who is ready to care for patients in a whole hearted as well as professional level and for this, I commend her and I commend you also. Thank you for producing another gift to present and future patients."
Congratulations Jane on receiving the DAISY Award! We are all very proud of you!
