I work as a floor nurse (LPN) at Elmwood of New Bremen, and Jane gives care to our residents who are on hospice care. I have worked around her for a total of probably 3 years. Jane, without a doubt, is the very BEST hospice nurse I’ve ever had the privilege to work with. If someone asked me, “Is there a perfect nurse?” I would say, well, I’m not sure if there is, but I would say Jane Steineman is as close to a perfect nurse as you can get!” She cares for her hospice patients as if they were her own family. She does absolutely everything in her power to make sure her patients are as comfortable as possible, makes sure they have all the supplies needed, appropriate beds and mattresses, and any other equipment they need. She ALWAYS goes above and beyond, to give the very best possible care!! Every time I see Jane walk in our facility I smile, because I know she is going to give our residents the absolute best care, and do everything in her power to make them comfortable, and to answer every question the family has. At times, residents’ families are complicated, but Jane handles them very well and tries to please the family members and keep them well-informed of everything going on with their loved ones. Jane always goes above and beyond her calling, always going the extra mile (or miles) for her patients. She will make extra visits when necessary, makes multiple calls to make sure our residents have their comfort meds on time. She sees multiple residents sometimes, giving each and every one of them 100%, never skipping on care, and always making sure they have everything they need before she leaves the building. She is EXCEPTIONAL and I hope I’m as good of a nurse one day as she is! I would have VERY BIG shoes to fill!! Jane has set the bar VERY HIGH!!! I nominate Jane for this award because I know without a doubt that there is nobody more deserving than her!! She is ONE IN A MILLION!! I have witnessed multiple residents, residents' families, and employees at Elmwood say the exact same things about Jane. Everyone speaks HIGHLY of her!!Without a doubt, Jane is a DAISY Nurse.
